Phrasal Verbs

Phrasal verbs are likely one of my favorite parts of learning about grammar! Phrasal verbs are (as google describes) :
  1. an idiomatic phrase consisting of a verb and another element, typically either an adverb, as in break down, or a preposition, for example see to, or a combination of both, such as look down on.

Phrasal verbs, as described, are often times found as slang in our daily lives. Looking at common phrases like "hang out," "hands up," or even "plug it in" it quickly becomes obvious where a certain confusion can lay in the meaning behind these phrasal verbs. It takes a certain knowledge of English in order to understand the exact meaning of each of these phrases. "Hang out" is a phrasal verb for being around friends. "Hands up" means to literally put a hand in the air when, generally when answering a question. "Plug it in" generally refers to plugging a charger into a cell phone, or plugging an outlet plug into an outlet.

All of these examples came from a video made by FluencyMC on youtube. He makes plenty of videos on a lot of confusing grammatical rules, that one would generally need extra help with--such as irregular verbs. He also focuses these videos towards ESL students, and creates a fun way for those students to remember and understand phrasal verbs--as well as other grammar rules in other videos.

However, give it a listen! It's great for anyone having trouble with those confusing grammatical rules, including these phrasal verbs!!
